Transformation through insight: Skewb Novus Goes Live for Southern Water Leakage Operations

Skewb’s Novus platform is now live within Southern Water’s leakage operations, marking a significant step forward in how leakage teams respond to day-to-day operational challenges through data led insights and an aggregated view of business systems.

Following deployment in Sussex in March, Skewb Novus is supporting analysts, supervisors and field technicians with a smarter, more connected way of working. The rollout continues across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight from April 14, extending coverage across all the region and embedding new ways of working at for over 150 employees.

Designed to bring together multiple systems into a single pane of glass view, Skewb Novus removes reliance on manual, time intensive processes, and empowers technicians in the field with everything that the company knows.

By enabling teams to access the right information quickly and easily, the platform supports faster and more efficient field operations by putting leak detection technicians into the right street and providing clear prioritisation of actions.

Reflecting on the milestone, Tony Summerscales, Technical director Networks at Skewb, said:
“Seeing Novus go live with Southern Water is a real milestone for us both. This has always been about creating something that changes the life of operational teams – connecting information, reducing complexity and supporting better decisions on the ground. The collaboration we’ve seen during the rollout at Southern Water has been exceptional and it’s exactly what makes deployments like this so powerful.”

Reflecting on the impact of Novus in live operations, Wayne Novelli, Leakage and Network Strategy Manager at Southern Water, said:

“Our leakage teams have really embraced the introduction of Novus. They recognise the value it brings in pulling together all the critical information needed to target leakage effectively. By combining mapping, flow data and job history on their field devices, Novus highlights the areas of each DMA where leakage is most likely. It means our technicians arrive on site better prepared, make quicker, more informed decisions, and ultimately deliver faster, more efficient leakage reduction for our customers.”

Embedding Novus Through HandsOn Training and Collaboration

In the leadup to go live, Skewb worked closely with Southern Water to deliver hands-on training for technicians and supervisors across the region. This provided teams the opportunity to explore the platform in detail and understand how it changes their daily workflows.

An equally important part of the rollout has been the open dialogue with technicians and supervisors. Alongside understanding the immediate benefits of the platform, teams actively shared feedback, ideas and insights shaped by frontline experience.

Building Momentum in Live Operations

With Novus now live in Kent and Sussex, the Skewb team are working side by side with Southern Water colleagues, providing on the ground support as teams use the platform in operational scenarios. This close collaboration is helping ensure a smooth transition as Skewb Novus becomes embedded into business-as-usual operations.

In April, Skewb Novus goes live in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, completing the rollout across all water operations in Southern Water.
