Skewb Futures Wins major accolade at the Gas Industry Awards 2026

Skewb Futures has taken top honours at the Gas Industry Awards 2026, winning the Investment in People Award and marking a major milestone for the programme and our organisation.

The award recognises Skewb’s commitment to developing future talent.

Organised by the Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers (IGEM) and the Energy & Utilities Alliance (EUA), the Gas Industry Awards recognise and celebrate the very best people, projects and organisations across the UK gas sector – spotlighting excellence, innovation and impact.

A total of 12 awards were presented at a ceremony held at the InterContinental London Park Lane, where MP Claire Coutinho delivered the keynote address. Claire is the Shadow Secretary of State for Energy, Shadow Minister for Equalities, and Member of Parliament for East Surrey. First elected in 2019, she was appointed to Cabinet as Energy Secretary in 2023.

Claire’s speech focused on the future for energy and that the greatest challenge for the UK is to ensure that there is security of supply, which is affordable. She highlighted that there are opportunities with homegrown energy and that consumer choice should be key.

The event also marked the close of an incredible year of presidency for Nic Evans, Skewb’s director of Gas Transition and Futures, who now hands over to Darren Elsom as IGEM President for 2026–2027.

Skewb Futures was launched to address a critical strategic challenge: sustaining rapid growth in complex, regulated environments while competing in a constrained talent market.

The programme combines structured learning, live client exposure and innovation-led thinking within a high-performance environment. Twelve graduates – nine of whom were international – were embedded within delivery teams, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to the development of new market opportunities.

From its inception, Skewb Futures has been a truly organisation-wide effort. Senior leaders, technical specialists, delivery managers and commercial stakeholders collaborated to design the programme, mentor participants and sponsor innovation initiatives. Delivery teams across client accounts played a critical role in supporting day-to-day development, ensuring that learning was grounded in real business challenges.

Skewb Co-founder and CEO Shashi Seshadri said:

“Skewb Futures is a reflection of what we believe in as a business – creating opportunity, investing in people and building capability that lasts. This recognition belongs to our graduates and to everyone across Skewb who has supported them. Together, they’ve created something that will continue to shape our future.”

This recognition at the Gas Industry Awards reflects not only the success of the programme itself but also the collective effort behind it – highlighting the role of people, collaboration and innovation in shaping the future of Skewb and the wider sector.
