Skewb is celebrating a double success after being shortlisted in two categories at the prestigious Institute of Internal Communication (IOIC) Awards 2026.
The awards recognise excellence in internal communication across organisations of all sizes and sectors, celebrating the individuals, teams and campaigns that are helping to strengthen businesses through effective communication.
This year’s awards attracted almost 300 entries from across the UK, with judges praising the exceptional standard of submissions.
Reflecting on the entries, the judging panel commented:
“It was a pleasure to see the quality, creativity and commitment, with the entries offering a valuable reminder of the important contribution internal communication makes to organisations.”
Founded more than 70 years ago, the IOIC Awards are regarded as one of the most respected programmes in the communications profession, recognising the work that connects people, drives engagement and supports organisational success.
Skewb’s Creative Design & Comms Lead, Kieran Barter, has been shortlisted in the Internal Communication Manager of the Year category in recognition of the significant impact he has made since joining the business in 2022.
Over the past three years, Kieran has played a pivotal role in transforming communications across the organisation, helping to create and develop channels that connect, inform and inspire colleagues across a rapidly growing business.
From enhancing the reach and quality of Skewb Life to helping build a multidisciplinary brand and communications team, Kieran’s audience-first approach has helped position communication as a key driver of culture, engagement and growth.
His nomination reflects his commitment to creativity, innovation and ensuring people remain at the heart of every communication.
Skewb is also celebrating the success of Skewdio, which has been shortlisted in the Best Podcast category.
Since its launch, Skewdio has become a platform for sharing stories, insights and experiences from across Skewb and the wider utilities sector. Through a mix of thought leadership conversations, industry insight and authentic storytelling, the podcast has helped engage colleagues, connect with external audiences and showcase the people driving change across the sector.
The platform is home to a range of successful series, including Chit Chat with CEO Shashi Seshadri, alongside interviews with industry leaders, innovators and experts exploring some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing utilities today.
The nomination highlights the growing role podcasts can play in internal and external engagement, helping organisations share knowledge, build connections and bring people together through meaningful conversations.
Being shortlisted in two categories is a significant achievement for Skewb and reflects the creativity, passion and dedication of the people behind its communications activity.
All shortlisted entrants will receive an Award of Excellence and will progress as finalists for the Class Winner Awards, with winners announced at the IOIC Awards Dinner on 17 September 2026 at London’s prestigious Hurlingham Club.
Everyone at Skewb would like to congratulate Kieran and all those involved in Skewdio on this fantastic achievement and wishes them the very best of luck for the awards ceremony in September.
